About Us
Lee’s career in the building and real estate industry began when he was 15. During that summer he got his first “hands on” training framing houses. At 18, he entered the sales side of the business, becoming a real estate associate at 18 and an associate broker at 21. Then back to the building business at 23 as a licensed home builder. A few years later he obtained commercial building licenses in both Georgia and South Carolina. Lee has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from the University of South Carolina and an MBA.
While working in the family construction firm which was focused mainly on custom homes, Lee saw an opportunity to help former and new clients with home additions and remodel projects. In 2006, with nearly 30 years of experience, he formed Graybeal Construction and Design to fill this niche. In 2013, Jim Beard, Lee’s mentor and stepfather, retired from the family business. Jim continues to provide his expertise as Construction Consultant during the initial phases of projects with Graybeal Construction and Design, now a full-service new construction and remodeling firm.
Lee’s business background and artistic talent provide the perfect balance to complete your new home build or custom remodel project. He stays abreast of current trends and continuously researches new materials and styles to remain on the cutting edge of construction and design. Lee takes a personal interest in each project and will work closely with you from design to final material selection.
Patti Gagstetter, a past client, joined the team as Design Consultant in 2008. Patti works with clients from start to finish and has a keen eye for style. Few, if any, other firms can offer two builders and a “Patti” to design and complete any renovation or new build you can dream up!
